This question gets asked a lot during interviews no matter what role you are applying for. It shows the recruiter that you are able to work under stress and can prioritize your time.

In addition, it shows that you are quick to react t if there is a change in circumstances.

So what is the best way to approach this question?

Firstly, and this applies to most questions that you are likely going to be asked, use an example to let the interviewer know that you have already dealt with such a situation in the past.

A good tip here is to not spend time on describing who was to blame.

This is your chance to shine and show how you handled it.

Maybe you worked for a translation agency and got a job offer for a quote with a really tight deadline, which left you with almost no time to allocate the work. You then asked an intern to start calling the translators straight away and in the meantime prepared all that was necessary for the project to run smoothly.

You can even highlight that your actions helped the company in winning one of their most loyal clients.

Even if you lack professional experience, you can still ace this question.

Remember that time you were snowed under with work during your studies with all deadlines piling up?

This is a chance to use this experience to show the way you are able to plan ahead in order to submit all your work on time.

To sum up, when you get asked this question, use it to demonstrate how you were able to handle stress and heavy workload in the past.

As a result, the recruiter will see that you are able to do this again in the future.
