A question sometimes asked and mostly asked if your role will include management. It is a question which needs a diplomatic answer.

At the same time, you should once again read about the company you are applying to so you understand how they work and what they value.

If they mention on their website that they have a strong management and are driven and have risen fast then you mentioning that you have a very relaxed management style and people can do pretty much as they wish working for you, then you might not get the job.

So, a diplomatic answer here is needed. Something like, “I think my management style is one of team work and letting my subordinates’ work on their own allowing them to fulfil their ambitions and motivating them to give the company the best they can. If needed I would help them and advise then and guide them to make each person in my team as valuable and hardworking as possible. I would be firm but fair if needed.”

You just told a fair bit about yourself in this answer but you also answered the question in diplomatic way making you look like a very well rounded person / manager.

Conclusion: Be diplomatic and a bit vague in your answer. Don’t have too strong management style UNLESS the company really appreciates it based on the research you have done.
